My "Why" Behind Teaching
When I was a sophomore in high school I took a photography class for my elective. Little did I know that my elective choice at 16 would spark a passion that would turn into my career. Over my high school years, I began to grow my art, I had my camera in my hand every moment I got. When I turned 18, I opened my photography business. Fast forward 3 years later, I had the opportunity to be a long term substitute teacher when the photography teacher at my old high school went on maternity leave. (you can READ BLOG POST HERE .) Long story short, I wound up being the official photography teacher for 4 years. Over those four years I fell in love with teaching. It was so amazing to be able to teach all the things I had learned over the years about photography and being a creative business owner. Seeing my students faces light up when they would create art they were proud of with the techniques I taught them was the coolest thing. The 2017-2018 school year was my last year teaching in the classroom due to the growth in my business. Although I knew God was bringing that chapter to a close, it was still hard to say goodbye to something I loved to do. I knew that if God was bringing me out of that season that He knew my hearts desire and had amazing things in store. The growth in my business in those short 7 months that I was not teaching exceeded all my wildest dreams. When I was writing out my goals for 2019, getting back into teaching was at the top, but this time I knew it would look a little different. This brings me to my exciting news. This March I am launching BETHANY PAIGE WORKSHOPS and I couldn’t be happier. I will be hosting several workshops this year with all different photography and business topics. This year will be 10 years (HOW IS THAT EVEN POSSIBLE?!) since I have started my photography journey and I can’t wait to help others begin theirs!
